COMPETITION PROGRAM GOALS

Our priority is to provide our students with excellent technical instruction, inspire their artistic voice by celebrating their individuality, and foster their personal growth in a safe and constructive learning environment. Through these priorities, we aim to develop happy, confident, and booming individuals, dancers, and teams.

Dancers take classes with their groups during the competitive season, which takes place from August to June. During this time, dancers rehearse choreography while receiving pre-professional training specific to each dance style. Each company competes at a total of four regional competitions in the Twin Cities area during the spring and one national competition at a location within driving distance from the Twin Cities in the summer. They also perform in the JHDCo. Recital in early June!

Competition Intensives, next offered in JULY 2026, are for returning competitive dancers and all dancers who are interested in auditioning for our competitive program.

During other times of the year, dancers interested in joining the competition program should call a Customer Service Representative at 763-413-0647 and request to meet with the JHDCo. Dance Director.

If you are interested in the JHDCo. Competition Program, please contact us at customerservice@jamhops.com or call us at 763-413-0647 for more information.

Auditions

Current competition dancers and all dancers interested in joining the JHDCo. Competition Program attendees attend Competition Intensives in July. During Intensives, dancers receive pre-professional training and have the opportunity to audition to participate in a Core Company or Specialty Company.

Competitions

Dancers perform at four regional competitions (Twin Cities area) in the spring and attend one national competition (within driving distance from the Twin Cities) in June. They also perform in our annual June recital.

JHDCo. competition dancers are evaluated throughout the year and during intensives on technique and professionalism.
