Get To Know Ms. Erin

Dance Director / Senior Instructor

What is your education background?
I grew up as a competitive dancer in various studios around the Twin Cities. In high school I started attending classical ballet and modern classes to get a well-rounded dance education. I attended Columbia College of SC as a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography. After college I also trained with the Rockettes in their summer intensive, as well as participated in intensives in other styles such as tap and modern with various companies.

What are your dance & teaching backgrounds?
I became the Dance Director at Jam Hops in 2007, and have been a dance educator ever since! I can teach all of the following styles of dance:  Ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, musical theater, hip hop, and modern. At Jam Hops I mostly teach tap, jazz, contemporary, musical theater, and lyrical. I've been fortunate to have received numerous awards for choreography, and have had the joy of seeing my students receive various titles, as well as transition into successful professional dance careers! I'm also a judge and master teacher for various national dance competitions!

What do you love most about teaching dance at Jam Hops?
I love teaching at Jam Hops for many reasons. One of the biggest reasons is because it feels like we are all working toward a common goal - positively impacting the lives of young people. I also really enjoy the creative support of our dancers and families - they do so much to help bring my visions to life!

Who is someone that inspires you, and why?
My mom is my biggest inspiration. She is one of the hardest workers I know, and would do anything for the people she cares about. Her determination, strength, and tenacity are unmatched. She also has one of the brightest personalities and makes me laugh - she's one of my best friends.

What is your favorite snack food?
I love so many snacks! Albanese gummy bears and peanut butter cups are always a go-to.
