The Benefits of After-School Activities

As the kids settle into their back-to-school routine, it is important to think about their routine after school. Are your kiddos coming home to sit down in front of the television or play on their phone for hours until bedtime? This is far too common and there are so many more beneficial ways your child can spend their time after school. After-school activities/programs are ideal to keep your children both physically and mentally active.

Create a Sense of Belonging

Enrolling your child in an after school activity/program can help your child to feel like they are part of a community. They will get to meet new children, build relationships, and learn how to interact with a diverse group of people.

Improved Social Skills

After-school programs will expose your children to a new social environment where they can learn valuable social skills such as cooperation, respect, support, compassion, and much more!

Increased Physical Activity

Most people, especially children, are simply not getting enough physical activity. Children should get 60 minutes or more of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity daily, and sadly most children are now becoming very sedentary. Think about signing your child up for an active after-school program such as dance, gymnastics, cheer, or ninja training.

Routine

Having a routine is incredibly important for children and by enrolling them in an activity they will have a more definite daily routine. Routines help create a sense of stability and structure, which help children learn to thrive as adults in the busy world we live in.
